  1. On "How Clean Is Your House" Kim and Aggie used mayonnaise to get stickers off furniture in kids' bedrooms. It worked!!

  2. Buy goo gone. It works on everything trust me!

  3. use warm soapy water! let it soak into the label totally then the label should just peel off

    Hi Happygan,

Stickers on furniture can be an absolute nightmare if they aren't removed properly. And yet retailers and manufacturers seem to delight in covering everything they produce in these annoying and meaningless things. Not only that but when they are removed they will leave a small sticky patch where they have been that will attract dust and hair to it and leave it looking a total mess. Fortunately there are several ways to remove these sticky labels without ruining furniture that are neither time consuming or expensive.

Firstly there are specialized label remover liquids that can be bought easily and cheaply from most stationary and office supply stores. These will break down the glue on the back of the sticker and soak through the front. They have chemicals that react with the enzymes in the glue, stopping it from being sticky anymore. Meaning that the label comes off easily and cleanly and leaves no trace that it was ever there in the first place.

There are several different brands designed for this purpose, and they are very much the same in terms of what the product is and what it offers. The only caution i would give is that some of them could be damaging to for example an antique piece of wooden furniture. In this case it is best to test some on the wood where it cant be seen, for example on the side of a pulled out drawer.

Secondly another easy way to be rid of stickers it just to carefully scrape them off with something sharp. Many people have tried this one before and given up. Where they often go wrong however is by using the wrong type of tool for the job. The important thing to remember is to never use something that will scratch away only small strips of the sticker. As this will often strip the glue from the paper and make it harder to remove. Getting the sticker all away in one go makes for the best approach. A little soap and water to saturate the paper part of the sticker first also helps.

Then using a very fine blade, (the kind from a craft knife works fine) slowly slice the label and glue all away at once. This can not only be time saving but can ensure that no chemicals are used in case they damage the fragile furniture underneath. Holding the blade at a slight downward angle is best, as this allows minimum distance between the furniture and the blade.Meaning the sticker is forced away quickly and easily.

Lastly using any kind of fairly harsh liquid such as petrol, lighter fluid or even bleach will usually shift stickers with ease. Strong bathroom cleaners and sprays work here as well. The only drawback with these is that unless the furniture is metal then there is sure to be a mark left. Or in the cases of some of these liquids a bleached white patch in your new furniture. Again its best to test these on a small patch out of sight before deciding to use them for the sticker.

Good luck, how about chewing gum . Ha Ha.

  5. Firstly remove the paper bit of the label, then spray the sticky that is left with hairspray. It works every time for me.

  6. Try baby oil if this doesn't work use WD40. But be careful to test it somewhere no too noticable. But either should work. I saw Kim and Aggie(How clean is your house prog.)Use these very succesfully.GOOD LUCK!

  7. Have a look on www.lakeland.co.uk, or visit your nearest Lakeland store, and buy a bottle of 'Sticky Stuff Remover'', I think its about £3.99, but its really good.....failing that, get a bottle of methylated spirit, this works pretty well too, it just doesn't smell very nice!

  8. I also watch "How Clean is Your House?" and Kim and Aggie used mayonnaise to remove stickers. In another episode Kim used a hair dryer to melt the glue on the back of the sticker and used a plastic putty knife to scrape it off. Also in yet another episode, Kim used hairspray!

  9. Goof Off or lacquer thinner works very well.  Good luck.

  10. The simplest thing to use that is the most inexpensive is rubbing alcohol. it works really well. just rub it on, and it gets the stuff off. then put a little warm water, so that the rest of the sticky stuff gets off.
