MY CASEWAS CLODES BACK IN 2001 HE ONLY GIVES ME A LITTLE OVER 500.00 A MONTH. THIS AMOUNT HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE THEN. IT IS NOW 2008 AND MY CHILD IS NOW 11. HE COMES TO VISIT WHEN ITS CONVIENT FOR HIM AND NEVER WANTS TO SPEND TIME WITH MY CHILD. NOE MY CHILD IS STARTING TO QUESTION ME ABOUT HIM AND WANTS TO KNOW WHY CANT HE BE MORE SUPPORTIVE OF HER. I TOLD HER TO ASK HIM AND HE TOLD HER NOT TO LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER WHEN SHE SPEAKS OF ME BECAUSE ITS ALL LIES. I HAVENT SAID ONE NEGITIVE THING TO HER ABOUT HIM OR AROUND HER. I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. HE CHOSE TO GIVE UP HIS PARENTAL RIGHTS TO ME BECAUSE HE SAID" I AM NOT READY TO BE A FATHER NO A HUSBAND RIGHT NOW IN MY LIFE. I KNOW YOU WILL DO GREAT WITH OUR CHILD" NOW I HAVE THIS ON PAPER FROM HIM IN HIS WRITING AND ALL I ASK IS THAT HE SEE HER ONCE IN A WHILE. NOW HE IS REMARRIED TO A VERY NICE WOMAN AND SHE HAS A DAUGHTER THAT THEY ARE BOTH RASING. BUT WHAT ABOUT MY CHILD???? CAN I REOPN IT???

  1. You have to petition the domestic relations court of your local county. By writing a note as to why you want to reopen your child support case. If they agree to reopen it then the two of you will meet in front of a court mediator to see if the both of you can come to an agreement. If not then it goes in front of a judge at another time. This is how it worked in my county which is in Pennsylvania.  Save yourself some money you can do all this without seeing a lawyer. I did.

  2. *You* can't, but a lawyer can. Find a lawyer if you want to get more money, and he/she will handle it by getting financial documents and such. That's when the lawyer tells you if you have a viable case. If you do, then a court date will be set and your ex notified.  Then it's all up to a judge who will also have the financial documents - each state has a calculator for child support payments.  Good luck!
