How do i repair a deep scratch in solid pine wood?

my baby sons solid pine cot got scratched and it's quite a deep scratch in the wood how could i repair it as it's a beautiful cot.

  1. Because it is pine very soft wood. Not sure if this would be an option for you, but I would refinish the top of it. Not Hard to do. The reason for this is again softwood I would put a few coats of Polyurethane on it. What you have to do is to take the top coat of finish off. You use 200 grit sanding paper. Once you get the finish scuffed off. You want to repair the scratch. Not sure what color you have on it? You can go to any hardware store to get a filler for this Minwax make a good one. Repair the scratch and then re coat it. Poly is harder finish and will last longer what you have now. If Re coating not an option. Use the minwax filler stick.


  2. Only thing i can think of is sand one of the under sides of the cot, and make a mixture with PVA glue to fill it in with.

  3. lt's hard to answer ,question too vague,so only you know if the peice of wood can be unscrewed and turned over, replaced, ect;
