How do i repair nicks in my sword?

How do i repair nicks in my sword?

I would assume after you sharpened your sword enough they would go away but that could take a while.  I had a nick in my machete and while sharpening split my finger wide open.  The only other thing I could think of is to take to a blacksmith and maybe they could do something.

I have multiple swords that I use for steel combat demonstrations at renaissance faires. I usually just take my dremel to them to grind them out. It works just fine for me.
