  1. It sounds like the small chain might be under the flapper valve. If it's been awhile, you might want to replace all the stuff in there. The friendly folks down at your local hardware store will walk you through it. You should have a shut off valve on the water supply line to the commode that you can use till repairs are made.

  2. Replace the flapper valve in the tank.

  3. there are 4 parts of toilet tank, fill valve ( ballcock) flush valve ( holds water in tank till you flush ) trip lever (handle) tank to bowl kit (holds tank to bowl w/ bolts, washers, and gaskit to keep water from leaking out when flushed) If water keeps running into tank and not stopping, you maybe able to adjust float, or replace fill valve. To replace fill valve, turn off water on bottom of tank (approx 9 to 12" below tank) unscrew nut that holds water line to fill valve, flush and hold handle till most water is out of tank. Get small container to catch leftover water in tank, loosen nut that holds fill valve to tank. Drain leftover water or if you have wet vac, suck water out of tank. remove old fill valve and replace following mfgrs instructions on box. I recommend fluidmaster

  4. Sounds like the "Flapper Stopper" at the bottom of the tank. It's not creating a tight seal. This happens naturally because the rubber wears out over time. It's pretty easy to fix and you'll save a ton of money doing it yourself rather than call a plumber. Anywho, go to a good store like ACE or Homo Depot and ask for help from an employee. If you don't take the stopper with you make sure you commit it to memory what it looks like because there are different shapes and sizes. Some of the packages have instructions on how to replace the flapper but it's pretty simple. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
