It is just for the back left speaker, all the rest will work great. Also, is there a good surround sound system for around fifty bucks? I mainly will use it for tv watching, dvd's, and xbox. Any suggestions would be great, thanks

  1. I hate to burst your bubble, but there isn't a good surround sound system for under $1000.00. I'm not kidding. The receiver will set you back a minimum of $300.00, entry level. The monitors (speakers) will set you back another $500.00 to $800.00, entry level. Two front, two rear, center channel, and sub-woofer. Progressive scan DVD players are relatively inexpensive, get one with the 'Reverse 3/2 Pull-down' feature. Expect to spend 20% of the total on good cables and surge protection.

If you are referring to a H.T.I.B. (home theater in a box), That would be fine for a bedroom, a small apartment, or your grandmother's house.

If your only problem is rear speaker placement, try putting the rear speakers just behind the sofa on each corner. Run the cables under a rug in front of your 'theater seating'.

  2. Either get a pair of Acoustic Research wireless surrounds, or if you have wired surrounds, run the wires along the side wall's floorboards.

  3. under the carpet around the edges,  no good surround sound system under $100

  4. Into the attic, or under the carpet, those are your only real options. And I agree with the opinion that there are no good surround sound systems available for under a hundred bucks.

  5. through the ceiling ...

    under the carpet ...

    go wireless
