How do i save a file in Blender?

Question

i want to save a 3d item i made as an image but it kept turning out to be another Blender file. Can someone teach me how? [Would be nice if u teach me how to color / provide me a link for the tutorial] thankyyou

Believe you have to use the Export File selection.
