  1. There is a nice book by Elizabeth May, entitled

How to save the world in your spare time

    http://www.grassrootsstore.com/index.asp...

This is a guide for activists who want to know how to use our social mechanisms to get things done.

II am sure it could be used by people just wanting to  mess the planet up, but a great primer on community action.

  2. save it from what?

  3. Use it Up, Wear it Out, Make Do, or Do Without!

  4. You attitude is the first step.

Then you have to realize that you can only do what you can do.

Remember, you CAN be an example for others.

    Educate yourself.

I do not mean a "net-ucation". I mean read, study, investigate things for yoruself. Talk to people, take classes, and KNOW what you are doing and talking about. Do NOT buy into the hype and babble that people shout about on the news and in politics to scare folks. Do NOT discount that there are serious problems we all need to work on.

There are things you can do on a daily basis.

    Here are a few:

Take your own fabric bag to the store, any store and do not let them put your items into a plastic or paper bag.

Do not rush out to buy the latest gadget just because your frinds have one.

Stop buying cheap imported plastic products.

Be willing to shop with companies that pay a living wage to their employees.

don't eat so much "fast food".

Write letters- not e-mail, to companies and tell them how you feel about products, packaging, location of their manufacturing plants. (many companies move their plants out of the US not just to save money on workers, but because the laws are very strict about pollution here. When they move to other countries, the local people can be subject to very severe pollution problems.)

Learn to fix the things you own or live with instead of buying new all the time.

Buy things that you CAN fix- sneakers cannot usually be re-soled. Good quality shoes can be re-paired and re-soled to last you many years.

Try to avoid buying plastics and synthetics- your clothes etc.

Try to avoid buying items in a lot of plastic packaging- cardboard or paper packages can be recycled.

    Recycle and compost.

Plant a garden. Plant some fruit trees.

    Eat what you plant

Buy locally grown food from farmers markets or co-ops. Many grocery chains buy produce shipped from several states or even countries away!  Your oranges may have traveled more than you will in yor lifetime!

Eat foods that are in season for where you live.

Learn to sew, cook, bake, fix your bike.

Turn off lights when you leave a room. Change all your bulbs to low energy lighting.

Consider using solar power if you can in place of some of your regular items.   (I have solar battery chargers and re-chargeable batteries for my cameras)

Hang in there, and keep up the good work

  7. Relieve the stress on the planet by getting rid of us.

  8. How to save the world?

Give LOVE to those who needs it.

Give encouragement for those who are failers.

    Reasons for global warming:

The predicted effects of global warming on the environment and for human life are numerous and varied. It is generally difficult to attribute specific natural phenomena to long-term causes, but some effects of recent climate change may already be occurring.

Rising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences, but predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact. Concerns have led to political activism advocating proposals to mitigate, eliminate, or adapt to it.

  9. hmmm....

Nuke the middle east might be a good start.

  10. Every thing against global  warming

  11. become a superhero. lol

    ...j/k

actually, sometimes it seem like a daunting task for one person but the little things can add up over time...

just do what you can and eventually others will follow .

(some already are doing what they can to make their difference.)

one of the easiest things you could do is plant a tree...

then just take it from there. :]

  12. You just took the first step! Ask questions where they will receive valid answers.  The second step is to be sincere about the first step.

  13. Well, you can't, of course, but you can make your little part of it better. And it's great that you care enough to ask the question.

Your first step should be to become as well-informed as possible about environmental topics. Study both sides carefully with an open mind. Don't assume that one side is "evil" and the other is "good"; realize that both sides have valid points, and both sides make mistakes.
