  1. You can get giant staples that you can hammer in to secure sleepers together.  When you use them be sure to pre-drill the holes first so the sleepers don't split.

  2. Which way, ??  lengthways or side by side,  If you want to secure them together, then simply drill a hole through both together and bolt them. If you want to form a line with them, then you will need some metal plates to fix them end to end.

  3. I used 1/2 " rebar to join them together and secure them to the ground.  I predrilled the holes (use extra long drill bit) then pounded the rebar with a small sledged hammer. I used 30" long section of rebar to secure to the ground and then cut lengths into 12 " to attach to the next one.  making sure to predrill through both sections of sleepeers a total of 12" (mark your drill bit so as not to go beyond  the 12")

  4. Much would depend on what you are going to use them for. Most of the time their own weight is enough with chocks at the edges.

Because they are so heavy, physically connecting them is a waste of time in most jobs, their weight will pull them apart if one starts to move and the adjacent doesn't.

  5. You can get 9inch long coach screws that are driven in using a 6mm hex bit in a power drill.

  6. http://www.railwaysleeper.com/Timberlok%...

Take a look at this link, these are what you need there callled TimberLok screws

  7. Winzer Wurth has a web site they do screws 400mls long which will do the trick

  8. Tommy Walsh drills through them and uses dowling or steel rods to keep them together.
