  1. You can click start-----click  run-----type msconfig------click startup tabs, then you can uncheck programes that dont need to run at startup. Then click ok to exist..And you also can go visit http://www.make-pc-fast.com/index.php?t=... to download a speedup software.

    Good luck!

  2. ok i am not sure if this is for vista or not, but go run, msconfig.  when the little window pops up go to the startup tab, and that is how you do it on XP service pack three. but i have rarely dealt with vista. hope this helps =/

  3. Open your start menu, search for accessories, open up command prompt, type in msconfig, click on the startup tab, select the items you dont want to start by removing the tick....be very careful what you remove though. If you're not sure what something is just leave it.Quicktime and stuff like that can be unticked.

  4. Unfortunately, there are a lot of places programs can hide that allow them to run when you start your computer.

You can download "hijackthis", which is a piece of software that will check all the hooks (like programs -> startup, hkey localmachine run, and so-on)

You run it, then check the box next to the items you don't want your computer to run, and then reboot.  Works like a champ.

If you're talking about the services, use msconfig (windowskey-R, type msconfig in the run box, or start -> run and type it in) and go to the Startup tab.

  5. Absolutely, HijackThis is a great program for selecting and deselecting startup programs. But you have to be very careful with it. This program is intended to remove Malware so if you deselect something it gets deleted.

It sounds like the program you're looking for is "MSCONFIG". Click the Windows button in the bottom left and in the search bar, type MSCONFIG and press enter. Make sure you look at both the Startup tab and Services tab.
