You can't. The internet is not connected to the telecommunications network like that. You need to pay for such gateway services (or, run your own telecoms network).

EDIT: Don't listen to suthyrngrl. Sending an email to a mobile phone is NOT sending a text message. A text message (aka SMS) can only be sent via a telecommunications network.

If you want to forward mail from Yahoo!, you add a filter.

When sending a text message, you have to be on a wireless network, but you can send an e-mail to your phone by putting the service provider's messaging domain (Cingular: @cingularME.com) after the number or user name for the phone. The mail is sent through the network that the phone is getting service through.

Using Yahoo! Instant Messenger, you can send text messages to friends who have service with any of the following wireless carriers:

* USA: AT&T, Cingular, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile

* India: Hutchinson, Airtel, Spice, Escotel, and Reliance

* Singapore: Singtel

* Thailand: AIS and DTAC

* Malaysia: TMTouch

* Philippines: Smart and Globe

To send a text message:

1. Choose one of these three primary ways to start sending a text message:

* Click the "Contacts" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Send a Text Message."

* Right-click the contact from the Messenger List and select "Send a Text Message" (then skip to step 3).

* Click the text message icon in the address book (then skip to step 3).

Oracle12 is incorrect. I receive text messages from email to my phone all the time. You need to find what company that person is using and look at the company's site. It usually will tell you the "extension" for lack of a better word at the time, to use. For instance to email someone on Sprint PCS you would enter it as such: phone number including area code then @messaging.sprintpcs.com. Verizon would be area code & number @vtext.com
