  1. you may have to remove the USB modem from your system , i had when i swapped USB to wireless router.

then use the windows add LAN tool

  2. Go to network connections and on the side it should say create connection do the following things and you should get a username and password from your isp enter that information and you should be connected

  3. if it is sending but not receiving then it is a firewall that is blocking

  4. 1.In control panel open internet option.

    2. In internet properties go to connection option and open it.

    3. In connection option open the ADD bottom.

    4. next  U will find new connection wizard box( type of connection) and click the last option, that is connect the Network via broadband and press NEXT.

    5. After pressing next pls. enter the phone no etc. and your broadband connection will be establish.

    6. At the time of broadband connection enable the local area connection .

may be i am of some help

  6. Go to network connections and on the side it should say create connection do the following things and you should get a user name and password from your isp enter that information and you should be connected

  7. I am assuming you only want to use one machine on this, most modems will only allow one, so you  can not use the LAN and USB. Many modems do NOT recognise the change-over from USB to LAN. You need to power down the computer. Then unplug any power to the modem (switching off a powered modem does not work, it must be unplugged). Disconnect it from the line and the USB. Leave it down for 30 seconds or more. Then connect it to the line, and if it has its' own power plug the power in. Then connect the LAN cable to it and power up the computer. Right click your network connection, then select properties and go to tcp/ip properties. These must ALL be set to automatic. You should then log into the modem as described in your manual, and check that its' connection details are set. This requires your ISP login user name and password. If this is correct you should have a connection. I find these modems with USB are poor in performance, and would normally replace them with a dsl router. If you do wish to use more than one machine with this, you will HAVE to buy a router.

  8. (UGH someone down there said this...  would hate to think you've got the USB modem connected while trying to use the LAN, I'm sure you're smart enough to know that.  But just in case, not use connect the USB modem at the same time as the LAN.  No offense, please)

    Try this:

Yes, go back into the Control Panel and double-click Network Connections.  At the top of the Network Connections Window, you should see the Menu Bar.  One of the menu bar items should be 'Advanced'.  Click the 'Advanced' menu and go into 'Advanced Settings...'.

You should see two little window panes, one labeled 'Connections' and one labeled 'Bindings'.  Click 'Local Area Connection' in the top Connections list once to select it.  Please make a note of where it was; write down the items in the list or something.  I'm assuming it was near the bottom of the list.  Now we're going to move it towards the top.  But we're going to go ONE space at a time.  DO NOT move it all the way to the top at once.

With it selected, click the green up arrow ONCE.  Then, at the bottom of that window, click OK.  NOW try your connection.  If that didn't work, go back through all the steps and move the 'Local Area Connection' up another space, click OK, and try the connection.

When it works, leave it as is.  If you reach the top, and it doesn't work, sorry man, just trying to help.  I would move it back to where it was and try something else.

(I have XP by the way... I can't check Vista right now... google "vista connections bindings site:microsoft.com")

  9. Disconnect the USB. Connect the LAN.

Very Very Very few dsl modems allow using the LAN at the same time the USB is connected.

Go to start->Run (or the start, Search on Vista)

Type in    cmd    and hit enter

Type in    ipconfig /release  and wait for it to come back.

type in     ipconfig /renew  and wait for it to come back.

Try browsing a webpage. If it doesn't work,  power cycle the dataone box and try the ipconfig commands again after the box shows online.

If that doesn't work, you may be using 'PPPoE' and your router isn't doing the login. In that case, you'd need to set up windows or the software that came with the dataone box, or you may need to call bsnl for setup.
