Click Start > Control Panel > Click on Classic View > Click on Network and Sharing Centre > Click Set Up a Connection or Network (found at the top left > Now just follow the steps found in the wizard.

Thats for Windows Vista. Think it is similar in XP but with a few changes in the names of everything, but you can still work it out.

I presume they are both windows machines.

Go to control panel > network connections > set up small home or office network and follow the instructions.

Do this on both computers and it should work.
