  1. no, they don't!! you can get a naked DSL line for only 10 dollars a month, but only for new customers!   and only online....don't even bother calling ATT...they will not tell you how do do it!

I also provided an update about his FCC inquiry regarding AT&T's compliance with the $10 DSL deal. AT&T is contractually bound to provide $10/month DSL for customers in a 22-state region as part of its takeover of Bell South. But the problem is that AT&T keeps unethically hiding the deal on its website. I asked the FCC to look into this, but they didn't give him a straight answer. Later this year, AT&T will be required to offer naked DSL. Let's see if they're more forthcoming with that deal.

  2. You can get DSL service by requesting a "dry-loop" or "naked DSL" over PSTN phone line - even though you do not have active PSTN phone service.  This is assuming a PSTN line is existing to your house (but not connected)

Call the AT&T Dry Loop department directly at:

    888-800-4095.  (888 numbers are toll-free)

Ask to switch to "DSL direct".

If they give you a hassle, say it's a retention offer.

  3. ATT requires you to have a landline in order for you to get DSL. Look around, I heard there are some companies that aer trying to provide stand alone DSL.

Do what I do, I only have a land line for local calls & 911. This way I can have DSL.

  4. They will make you get a landline. Tell them you want the CHEAPEST landline. No caller ID, no call waiting, nothing extra. It should be around 10-15 a month extra.
