How do i set-up file sharing on a network between two computers with a switch?

I've searched the entire yahoo answers website and the internet looking for some answers. basically... i'm a computer wiz but NETWORKS...AAHH!!! it's my Achilles' heel. i have a desktop and a laptop, i'm not trying to get them both on the net, i'm not trying to st up anything to do with the internet. i just want the desktop and the laptop to communicate. i'd like for the two comps to see each other and share files. all i have is a 4-port switch with a uplink jack on the back. somebody save me!!!!!!

  1. Its Gonna be made simple now.

    Share a Folder or drive in your PC or laptop.

    For example you right click and share your C drive. and the name of your PC is test.

    Go to the Laptop and go to Start - Run and type \\test\c

    this will open the shared drive \ folder in your pc on the laptop.

    Note : The PC and Laptop should be connected to one another usinng the router and the Ipaddress shld be on same class.

    Example  :  192.168.0.1

    and 192.168.0.2
