How do i set up my desktop and laptop to work together on the same internet connection?

you will need a router, it's like an extension cord for the internet, just go to best buy and they'll sell you what you need

Get yourself a wireless router. ANy store that sells computers will have them, but Circuit City and Best Buy definately. Make sure to activate the security features so that no one that doesn't have the password can use it.

There are two ways that I know: 1) Buy a wireless router or a wireless access point and connect it to your desktop then you can connect wirelessly to internet by your laptop (if your laptop has wireless)

2) If your laptop and your desktop(or modem or router) both have ethernet ports you can connect to internet by your laptop with an ethernet cable. This way is very cheaper if you don't want to connect to your laptop wirelessly. Laptops usually have ethernet ports but if your desktop(or modem or router) does'nt have one you can buy an "Ethernet PCI Card" for a cheap price.
