  1. All wireless router has the ability to use encryption.

  2. The first line of defense is to turn off the broadcast of your SSID. You will need to consult your router's user manual for exactly how this is done, it is different on different routers.

By turning the SSID broadcast off, your router will no longer be visible to the public airwaves. However, once you do that, you will need to manually set your computer or laptop (whichever you use to connect to the router) with the SSID your router has set. Note that you can set your SSID to a name only you will know (for example, "StayAway") and then set your computer (in the wireless set up) to StayAway. This way only someone who knows your SSID (hopefully only you) will be able to connect.

You can also enable encryption (recommended) by using either WEP or WAP, depending on what your router allows. Again, follow the instructions for this in your manual. But disabling the SSID is the easiest and simplest way to get your neighbors off your connection.

  3. You can go to your router settings and set a password for your router :)

  4. You'll want to setup WPA on your router. This will give you the ability to set up a password that will be required to connect.

  5. first u gotta go to ur internet box settings..u can set a password on ur internet through there :) hope i helped

  6. yes, you should be able to password protect your connection.

  7. Look in your router's manual for WEP - Wireless Encryption Protocol.  A "WEP Key" is essentially a password for your wireless network.  It is a "hexadecimal" number, meaning the characters are all 0-9 and A-F.  So it's not really a "password" per see (not one you'll remember).

  8. first of all to be able to connect to a network the network they are trying to connect to is either unsecured or they have a software to hack to it which is very unlikely anyway if u know who is doing it its illegal and if u dont contact your network and ask them to put an encryption on it or ask them to find the suspect by there ip address its illegal dont let them get away with it.

  9. Read the manual.

  10. a wireless router has the option to lock it so only people with the password can use it. It should be in your router manual. Then after that when someone logs onto their computer that popup will come up and they will have to type in the password in order to continue to use the signal from the router. You will have to set it up using the computer that the router is connected to. Thats what I did, because I have a desktop the router is connected to and my daughter has a laptop that receives the wireless signal.
