How do i sew using elastic thread?

i do i sew using elastic trhread in my sewing machine? thanks =]

  1. i don't know anything about sewing,but i used to fix a flat bed knitting machine that made gloves ,at the end it made an elastic cuff,the way it got the elastic in was to pleat (ridge the cloth together leaving it smaller then the elastic went in and used the slack as a stretch point) ....so i guess you need to pleat the cloth and insert the elastic......tom


  2. Typical method would be to hand-wind it on a bobbin, very small amount of stretching, and then sew with it in the bobbin, regular thread on top.  When you're done with the multiple rows of stitching, give the fabric a good blast of steam from the iron and watch it draw up.

    Typically, this is done with a straight stitch, fairly long.

  3. use a cording foot, thread the elastic into the cord aperature and zig-zag stitch  over the elastic...
