  1. Basicially.......

The pool game starts with a "break".

Breaking is hitting the cue ball at a group of 9 or 15 balls shaped in a form of a  triangle after you "rack" the balls some distance away from the cue ball using a "rack triangle", which often starts any billiard game. The rack triangle is enveloped in the 15 balls, and moved back and forth so that the balls create a perfect triangle almost like bowling pins when the rack triangle is removed.

The actual break involves striking that cue ball with a strong amount of force so that the balls seem to break away from each other, scattering across the field so that some will go into holes called "pockets".

In 9-ball, the break involves only 9 balls from 1-9.

In 8-ball, the break involves the whole 15 balls.

There are usually 6 pockets in a billard table.

In most pool games, the object of the game is to put colored balls in pockets every time you hit the cue ball on it, without missing any one of them.

If you hit the cue ball and then the cue ball goes into the pocket, it is called a "scratch" and often you lose your turn.

    Common pool games include

    8-ball

Using 15 colored balls and the cue ball, and taking turns, the one who successfully pockets the 8-ball before clearing all other colored balls is the winner. Often, especially when competing one-on-one, players call for either the "striped balls" or "solid-colored balls" in this game after the break.

    9-ball

Using only 9 colored balls and a cue ball, the object is to clear the surface by successfully pocketing all of the balls in order, from 1 to 9....without scratching.

You can even shoot the cue ball without pocketing the ball in such a way so that the opponent will have difficulty trying to make a successful pocketing, called a "safety shot", or a "safety". You will lose your turn if you do, but the benefit of "safety" outweighs the risk.

You will often see trick artists do amazing billard shots. A few examples....

    The jump shot

This involves striking the cue ball's end under the center of the cue ball so it will seem to jump upon striking

    The masse' shot

This involves using the cue stick in a vertical manner. You put the cue stick's front end touching the side of the cue ball you want in a way that it will seem to "rub" the surface. This movement is very difficult but the strike is fast (often ending of the cue end striking hard on the pool surface---very hard in most cases)--the end of the stick touches the side of the ball to allow so much topspin that the cue ball can curve in unusual ways.

    The alphabet shot

This shot is often done without any colored balls, and is used more in snooker. This trick shot doesn't involve pocketing, and it often used to make the ball go in a shape of a letter. For instance........

HItting the ball so that you angle the ball at one cushion, and then an angle at another cushion, and then goes straight to another cushion, and at an angle again to another cushion, creates the Greek letter "delta".

I hope all of this will help you when you face a pool table with your friends.

  2. the object of the game is to get all your ball in a pocket first (strips or solids) and get the 8 ball in last if you get the 8 ball in befor all your balls are in the pockets you loose. when your on the 8 ball you have to call the pocket if you dont or you get it in a difrent pocket you loose. if the cue ball goes in its called a scratch and the oponet gets to place it any weere on the table.

how to shoot: ther are many ways to shoot if your a begiiner i recomnd you do it this way

if your a right handed put youe fings from your left hand on the table making an arch or spinder shap. then stick the cue stick betwen youe midle finger and the finger next to youe pinkie. and shoot. this is just how to shoot if youe a begener and its all about what your cofterball with

  3. whatever ball u hit in first you have to hit in all of those(either solids or stripes) and then the 8-ball to win.
