How do i soften cracked dry shoe polish?

Let the bottle soak in hot water.

put it in the microwave for 6 - 10 seconds

A bit of metholated spirit should do it.

Heat it a little, run a lighter over it for a while.

Add a little baby oil, or vaseline to a clean rag, and work into the wax polish.  The oil or vaseline will actually be good for the shoes too!

If it's the "Kiwi"  type of polish (semi-solid, in a flat tin)  add a bit of "turps substitute" - alias mineral spirit, as used for cleaning paintbrushes, and then heat it until it liquefies. Don't apply direct heat, because it's inflammable. Boil a bit of water in a pan, and then turn off the heat and sit the polish container in the water.

Hold the open tin of polish over a candle until the polish melts.
