  1. (2 x 10^6) X = 4 x 10^-7

    Divide both sides by (2 x 10^6) to isolate the "X" by itself on the left side of the "=" sign.... like this....

    (2 x 10^6) X ... 4 x 10^-7

    ----------------- = -----------------

    (2 x 10^6) ...... 2 x 10^6

    The "(2 x 10^6)"s on the left side cancel each other out... leaving you with...

    ..... 4 x 10^-7

    X = ---------------

    ..... 2 x 10^6

    4 divided by 2 is equal to "2" .... because 4/2 = 2.....

    And 10^-7 / 10^6 = 10^(-7-6) = 10^-13 because when you divide two "numbers" with the same base (here you have "base 10"), you can SUBTRACT the exponents that the bases are raised to....

    So....

    ..... 4 x 10^-7 ... 4 .... 10^-7

    X = ------------- = ----- * ---------

    ..... 2 x 10^6 .... 2 ..... 10^6

    ... = 2 x 10^(-7-6) = 2 x 10^(-13) = 2 / (10^13)

  2. (2x10^6)x=4x10^-7

    x=(4x10^-7)/(2x10^6)

    x=(4/2)(10^-7)/(10^6)

    x=2x10^-13
