How do i solve lim f(x) as x approaches 1?

i understand how to solve them when f(x) is equal to an equation, but when there's no equation i'm lost.

  1. I think you just want to say f(1)? If you have an equation written what are you doing? You're just plugging in for x = 1 if it's not an undefined limit in which case you use other methods of solution. So thus given nothing other than f(x), you can only really say it's equal to f(1).  


  2. if you know that f is continuous at x = 1 then lim f(x) = f ( lim x)
