-(5 + 2c) > 1 + 4c I don't understand since no things outside parentheses on left side. We are finding the value of C.

Also:

n - 3n > -2n - 7

the n's cancel each other out and then the equation does make sense, but does not solve for n!

  1. to answer ur question u get rid of the parenthesis by distributing the - so instead of it being -(5+2c) it would be -5-2c, the person who answered number one is right. I'm not sure about number 2...i wish i could help im sorry!

  2. -(5 + 2c) > 1 + 4c

    -5-2c > 1+4c

    -2c-4c > 1+5

    -6c > 6

    c < -1

  3. -(5 + 2c) > 1 + 4c

    -1(5 + 2c) > 1 + 4c multiplicative property of -1

    -5-2c>1+4c  distributive property

    -5-6c>1 additive property of inequality

    -6c>6 same

c<-1 multiplicative property of inequality (part b, when you mult or divide bya negative you change the direction of the inequality symbol.

    Also:

    n - 3n > -2n - 7

    - 2n > -2n - 7 substitution

    0>-7  additive property of inequality.

this is a true statement so all values of n will work. the answer is teh set of all real numbers. If it had been a false statement, then there would be no answer.
