How do i solve this dns configuration problem?

Everytime i connect to the internet after a few minutes my connection fails. When i diagnose and repair it says that theres a problem with my dns configuration and that it cant get to www.microsoft.com. I have no idea what to do. Please help!

  1. You can delete the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (the file does not have an extension on it).  Chances are you have a virus that has overwritten your hosts file.  In addition, you can check your DNS provider list in your TCP/IC stack.  To do this, right click on your My Network Places icon and click properties.  Then right click on your Local Area Connection icon and click properties.  Scroll down to Internet Protolcol and click properties.  On the next page, make sure the option "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is set.  Hope that helps.


  2. why would someone claiming to be a IT professional overlook the obvious that the dns is simply stacked and needs flushed before telling someone they have a virus ?

    i guess anyone can be anything on the net , h**l i once was a member of the royal family

    simply go into your cmd prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns
