I’m planning on to spray paint my Double Eagle Spring G36 into gold. The spray paint I have selected is Krylon Metallic Gold. I’m not sure if this spray paint will give chrome like shine but in gold. If anyone experience with this color could tell me what its finish paint is like is welcome.

What I’m going to do is:

1.Clean the gun of any dust or dirt with water and let dry.

2.Sand the parts I want to spray with scuff pads.

3.Clean the gun with rubbing alcohol on a cloth.

4.Spray it gold with 2-3 or more light coats until I’m satisfy with the color.(with 30min drying time between each coats)

What I’m wondering is:

Will I need a clear coat spray paint over this finish product to keep it shiny and protection from losing its gloss?

  1. check with someone familiar with paint-------i might suggest----appllying a few coats of clear coat over it for gloss---but make sure the clear coat won't blister or eat the gold---

  2. Lengthen drying times to about 2 hours between coats of paint and apply acrylic gloss coat after 24 hours of paint drying time. the acrylic will definitely protect the gold. add additional coat of clear acrylic to pistol grip and front grip and the tops of your magazines.
