  1. Use a spike and hit it hard like you mean it against the volleyball

  2. 1. A lot of practice

    2. Get extra technique help from someone who knows

    3. Use your arms and feet to get your momentum

    4. If you are righty, your left hand points to the ball while your right hand stretches to hit (hand open, fingers apart, hit w/palm) follow through(ask how to do this properly)

    5. You should start the swing when the ball is at its highest point(apex)

Arms out...and then it is a left foot, right foot, left foot step....check a volleyball book

    6. Lift weights...It will help your vertical and your armswing

By the way, I don't agree that a cupped hand is the best way....Open gives you more control ;)

  3. Trust me listen to my reply!!

First you wait until ur team mate throw the ball to ur position. When you are starting from ur position u take steps exactly like this left, right, and a quick left, right then u quickly lower to the ground and elevate in order to spike the ball right then u jump and snap ur wrist while ur hitting the ball. I gurarntee you that you'll spike the ball well.

  4. approach, jump high, use your full arm from the bottom, watch the ball, HIT AND SNAP !

  5. take the ball with your left hand and throw it on the ground and when it bounces back up, hit with the heel/palm of your hand and that will help with power (it will also help you with power for your overhand serve) but another way is to repeatidly spike the ball agaisnt the wall where it meets the floor  and another way is to do weights (it helps you strength)

  6. Congrats on making Varsity!

Great that you have focus on spiking, but don't forget those fundamentals!

    Spiking "harder" requires this:

    - Good approach on the ball. (Find the "launch spot", where are you going to start your jump?)

    - Better height and contact. (Explode to get height, prepare good arm rotation and ensure accurate ball contact)

    - Best Ball Strike.  (A cupped hand with a snap on the ball as contact is made along with full arm extension) (Holding your hand as if you were a waiter/waitress holding a tray in your hand above your head)

Practice all of these (required) will add velocity to the strike of the ball.  Placement comes later!

Best of luck and HIT away!!

  7. Lift weights, and if you don't already, flick your wrist harder when you swing.

  8. Jump real high and make your hand hard and get you swing in it and it will be great just use you WHOLE body!

  9. use fist

  10. make sure that you work out not only your arms, but your shoulders too. Arch your back when you jump in the air and snap it forward. Hitting the ball hard that way is painful if your shoulders aren't in shape, but if they are, there's no way like it to kill the ball.

  11. the best way to spike harder is to have a high jump....

with that you will be able to have the descending blow to the ball aim on a the ground and and pull up and come down vertically

that will make it....a spike harder,..

from a H.S now college player...

  12. Think of your ex-bf that your best gf took away.

  13. poractice, I am in the same situation in my high school, also work out your arms

  14. well in your basic approach you take three steps the first step is to get you moving the second is your jump and the third is to stop you from running into the net

now to hit the ball harder you need to get your arms moving while you're taking your approach so by the time you get to your third step you hand is contacting the ball

this is the really important part when you swing threw first you snap your wrist then swing your arm down until you hit the side of your leg this keeps the ball from going out of bounds and is the making of a good hard hit

good luck with you hitting i hope you do fine

  15. You just have to have a lot of fast muscles.  I am one of the weakest players on my team but I can hit it harder then anyone because I hit the ball fast with a lot of snap.

  16. Think of something that makes you really mad

    OR:

Keep saying to yourself " I'M GONNA SPIKE THIS UP!!!!" and just hit it hard!

  17. keep practicing the more you work your arm out the more muscle you will gain which means less friction which means better spike!

  18. hey i made varsity as a freshman and and i learned from experience that it isn't really about hitting as hard as you can. it really is true, i have no upper body strength at all but i found that trying to hit the ball on the top so it gets more top spin (sort of like a down ball or a jump serve) will make it go down at a sharper angle so it will seem a lot faster than it is. it will psyche the other team out and they won't know what hit 'em. that technique helped me many a game.

  19. Your coaches will show you the correct footing, you'll develop a sense for timing and then just follow through on your swing.  Don't worry - it just takes practice and I'm sure you're not the only one who needs to work on spiking.  The coaches wouldn't have selected you if they didn't think they could teach you.

  20. You need to quicken your arm speed.  The faster you can swing your arm, the faster the ball will go when you hit it dead on.

  21. ha ha ha spike a volleyball HARDER ha ha ha Im sorry my mind is in the gutter tonite

  22. i love vollye ball yeah it rocks!!

  23. A strong wrist and alot of practise..Good luck and congrats for making the team!!!

  24. Make sure you have the running formation for when you get ready to run toward the ball. Make sure you jump at the right time and pound the ball down hard. Make sure you just practice, practice, and practice.

I know because I'm a sophomore and I've been playing for four years now.

  25. quick armswing, good high jump, make sure you snap your wrist. keep you elbow above your shoulder, and practice alot

  26. Good for you!

    Practice, practice...

Try to snap your wrist just as you hit it. It gives it more Oomph.

Do jump training to get higher on it and put it down harder.

Strength training will help too-Bowflexes are probably my favorite to use.

    Good luck!

  27. Make sure your arm is extended at the top of your swing,...no bent elbow. Contact the center of the ball with an open palm and snap your wrist as you follow though on the hit. Make sure your follow through finishes on the side and not across your body. Good Luck, and rack up the kills!!! True....Dr. True.
