  1. Once you learn how to fish, start fishing in tournaments.

  2. get fishing equitment use this site      http://www.takemefishing.org/fishing/fis...

and ask the local fisher man for advice

  3. First get your B.S. in Software Engineering - then moonlight as an Ametuer fisherman - the one job will allow you to buy your tackle and other toys until you get good enough to leave the first job and do the second full time - or reverse the roles and be a Pro Fisherman and a part time Software Engineer - Consultant.

  4. start locally - check out your state's fish and game site to see what tournaments are being held.  Make sure you get all the required permits - both general fishing and any reservoir permits you might need.  Pick up a boat, one with an outboard motor as they are more accepted on most bodies of water.  Invest in a good pole.  Read up on what bait each type of fish likes.

I went into Google - quarried "fishing tournament, *state*, and got a huge response.  Do the same for your state and go for it!!

Bass Pro Shop will also have notices of tournaments.

  5. buy a pole.   you may also want to look into aquiring a hook and a worm.   good luck on your dream, amigo!!

  6. Joe American is right -- get a day job to finance the fishing. The better paying the better. (Fishing is expensive -- so are things like paying the rent and the other bills and feeding yourself.)

Then spend all your free time fishing in whatever tournaments you can. When you start winning enough to cover your expenses and tide you over the weeks when you don't win, then you can quit your day job.

Then it helps to have a good personality, so tackle manufacturers will want you to represent their products.
