How do i start a fundraiser for cancer?

Start by first organising a committee. Secondly start by organising an event or maybe you would like to do 2-3. Split the committee into groups. Venue, guests, invitations, advertising etc. Make it clear what you are raising the money for. Maybe do a themed event. James Bond is a great theme etc.

You might check with your local chamber of commerce to see if they have any information that might help you locally.  Once you find out what you need to do to get it started then go personally and talk to local businesses to see how they wish to help...maybe donating an item to auction off and then the funds go to benefit cancer patients locally or maybe they could let you advertise for the fundraiser in their place of business.

Whatever funds you are raising you need to be sure to keep seperate from your own accounts. For example, if you are raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation then make people write checks directly to the LAF and not to yourself. Otherwise, you may have to claim that it is income for you.
