How do i start a game of pool?

rack the ball either all or if your palyin 9 ball just use 1-9.  in straight pool (all balls) put the 8 in the center in 9 ball put the 9 in the middle.  then you brake from the opposit end anywhere before the second diamond on the side rails (sometimes there is a white spot on the table, most people put the ball behind that spot.

the white ball is the ball that doesnt go in the rack and is used to brak the other balls with... this is the only ball the stick can hit

take the plain white ball and it the balls that were in the triangle

You and your opponent should determine who goes first either by a coin flip or by lagging (both banking a ball off the opposite short rail with the winner being who lands closest to the short rail near you...btw hitting the side rail is a disqualification).  Winner of the coin flip/lag decides who will break to start the game.
