  1. First of all, everyone starts off with "good morning i am going to talk to you about...."

    or something along those lines

so if you want yours to be a good speech or at least one the was remember at all, other than "totally boring"

you need to start it off with a surprising fact or something that will really rack the audience's brains

but not a did you know.... fact

because kids in grade 6 do that when they are told to start their speech with an attention grabbing fact, it will make your whole speech less effective and with out realizing people won`t take it as seriously because they find it lest mature and well/intelligently worded in the back of their minds.

    trust me

i have one awards for my speeches

    good luck

  2. You thank them for the opportunity to speak. And it is an honor to do so.

  3. I would like to open your mind to the highs and lows of what a stereotype can do to a person's life.

  4. tell a lighthearted joke that has something to do with your topic. Get people at least smiling....

  5. I wouldn't start off the way you say.

I'd start off by making fun of the stereotyping of your gender. I'd say something like, "All right, as you can see I'm a female. So you can expect my speech to be full of giggly moments, cutesy jokes, to be not very serious, to contain no mathematical facts, to be soft and not hard hitting, and above all to appeal to your emotions because that's the way we girls are--all gush and no substance. All we want is love. All we need is a real man to show us the way."

Then assume a mock angry (or truly angry) face. "WRONG. If you thought all that, you need to listen to what I'm going to say. And if you thought part of it you need top listen even more closely because you're slicker than your prejudiced friends. You're a hidden stereotyper."

  6. You can start off by asking a question.

That can grab an audience's attention.

  7. hey ya'll listen up and shut up!

i think that will get there attentions. lol

  8. Dont start out that way...its boring. The key to a good speech is catching the audience's attention IMMEDIATELY!!!

Start even with a dramatic example, such as  "Everyone knows that women are smarter than men; and, since there have been so many recent advancements in artificial insemination, why dont we just execute all men with IQs less than 140."....or something like that. Something shocking, which you can later prove wrong. You need to have that edge when youre writing persuasively. Trust me, ive done it a lot.

Another good way to start is by telling a fictional story you make up about the EXTREME end of the impact of gender stereotypes, in present tense, and that is your entire first paragraph...which again, you argue against yourself. The idea is to propose both sides of the argument, but ultimately make a stand of your own.

Hope this helped. P.S. dont use the first example I gave you, its a bad one...but something similar.

  9. Dear lady's and gentlemen, hobo's and tramps, cross-eyed

    mosquitoes, and bow-legged ants.

  10. Use something that will grab the audience's attention like a quote, story, or fact.

  11. You can say "good morning," but you do not need to say "I will be talking to you about..."Thats too cliche.Once you start speaking, they will know what your topic is.You can start by striking your audience's attention with a  statistic or by asking a question like "did you know..."

  12. Start out with an ice breaker.  Perhaps a Joke or a Story about a situation that makes your point.   That works well for me.   Keep in mind that as an opening, you should keep the joke or story to about 30 seconds or less.
