  2. First find a boxing gym with a good reputation and coaches that care about the boxer, not the profits.  Some of the best gyms are the ones that are flat broke and not very pretty because they are being run by coaches with big hearts but empty wallets. Start as an amature.  You may be surprised by how intense it is and you may decide you don't like boxing after all!  After a few amateur fights, you can then decide if you want to go pro.  It is VITALLY important to have a good coach.  Always keep that as your top priority and listen and respect him.  Do alot of running to build up your cardio.  Don't lift heavy weights, the bulky muscle will slow you down.

  3. Just look for a cheap bag(heavy)..hang around the gym..ask question from the old timers.. Good Luck.

  4. practice basics such as foot work, moving back and forth, bob and weave, shufflin, etc. then get on the basics of jab and cross, practice and practice, then go to doing combinations such as overhooks, upper cuts, body hooks, hooks, etc.

3 way combinations are always good. Basic ex. Jab cross hook. Start mixing it up and look at what other people say to, pro boxers, normal boxers, internet, etc.

You'll come out on top if you practice, don't ever be discouraged.

  5. I'm sorry to hear that. you can find a boxing gym at www.boxinghelp.com. some gyms are willing to help those out who are short on cash in return for something. try asking if you could pay your way by cleaning the gym. or you could find a hustle of your own like selling chocolate cookies at school or something like that?

as for exercise there are lots of things you should do... squat thrusts, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, weightless squats, run, swim, thrusters, cleans, kettle-bell swings, bench press, etc go to www.crossfit.com for more exercise ideas.

as for practicing boxing. hit the bag in rounds of 3 minutes followed by a minute rest. this is how a fight will be broken up.
