  1. 1) Check if you need a license or not (and check regulations with your state). You can probably start one from your home at first.

    2) Advertise: flyers, word of mouth, websites likes http://www.daycarebear.com

    3) Take care of the kids :)

  2. Do I love children enough to be around them for 12 hours a day?

Do I want what is best for the child even if it means a lot of extra work for me?

Do children relate to me?  Do I relate to them?

Do I mind working 14 to 16 hours a day with little thanks and no appreciation?

Can I hold my head up high when asked what I do for a living and proudly answer "Daycare"?

If you have answered "yes" to these questions then you are ready to take the next step. If you have any second thoughts or just want a way to make money at home this is NOT for you.

Write a plan of what you want to offer.  Is it just daycare or is it daycare with some academics? When do you want to be open?

    What is your mission?

Next contact your state and see what you have to do to get a license.  Devote a portion of your house (if you are offering home daycare) that is just for daycare so that you won't get too upset if it is a mess and the furniture takes a beating.

Develop a flyer to advertise that you are open for business. Distribute the flyer at supermarkets, children's stores, put a small ad into the local neighborhood newspaper, ask pedatritians if you could place a few flyers in their offices.

Set a date and time for an 'Open House' so that your neighbors can see what you are doing and maybe help out.

Keep good financial records....who paid...who owes...what needs to be paid....what needs to be bought.

If you are good at this and your business grows you can then look for a store front or building to lease or buy.

    Good luck with your adventure.

  3. You need to lease/buy a building. You will also need a license. Set up everything. Hire a few people. Maybe make a website. Put flyers around area. Ads in newspaper, etc.

  4. Contact your local council
