How do i start talking to him?

so there's this really cute guy that sits at this table by himself(in the cafeteria), i usually sit there too, a couple of seats away. he sits at the same spot every day and i want to start a conversation with him but i'm not sure how. i thought about just sitting right next to him and start talking, but i really don't have the confidence to do that. and plus, he's like a sophmore or a junior, i'm a freshman i kind of feel self conscious and i guess, intimidated? i'm not scared of 'rejection' i just want to talk. so the question is how do i go about talking to him?

(most of you are probably saying'just talk!' but i'd get too self conscious. how do i make it so it's not awkward?

haha i'm reading too much into this.

Just take a leap of faith, if you really like him than you should just go sit next to him one day and say "Hi, can I sit here?" Then, the next day you can talk to him a bit more, just try to find something you have in common with him. Bands, TV shows etc.

Hi Chyah; Does he wear anything unique?  Like a button that say "ZZ Top", or something you can talk about?  Find something about him, what he's wearing, how he talks, maybe something he likes that you feel comfortable talking about.  And start your introductory conservation there.   Cheers!  You know, he probably wants to talk to you just as much!  But may be kinda shy!
