  1. your 5'10.  You do not shoot the ball.  Be like Chris Paul or Steve Nash.  Facilitate, make a mess out of the other teams defense.  If you want to start as varsity you need to know what to do at your size. 5'10 is not a good hieght to shoot.  Do nice passes and lots of steals.

  2. Practice alot on the weakes part of your game...excersize, hit the weight room, and more practice

  3. It depends on how great the other players are on the team, for example if your school isnt that great it shouldnt be to hard if your a good player, but if your school have real talented players, it will be hard because they look at you as a sophmore and that you dont "need" to go varsity even if your good. Even though im saying this it does not mean you cant do it, just work hard on your game for 3 hours a day, dedicate the other 2 hours on weightlifting/running, some schedule workout like that and determination is what you need

Just remember that when you go tryout play hard and if you didnt make the varsity team you played hard and thats all you can do and if I were you I wouldnt be worried you have two more years left and JV can prepare you for the varsity years.

  4. Its all about practice and confidence. If you want to play varsity you have to outplay your competitors or at least show you have enough potential to be on varsity.

  5. Bro, it all depends in the school your in. But, to be honest it will be extremely difficult because your trying to skip jv and move on to Varsity. Jv is to get you ready for the Varsity level. Since you played freshman your first year, chances are you will play jv. Who knows, maybe you have improved dramatically, but  most coaches will probally put you in the jv team. You may not be ready for Varsity, you should have made jv already. Anyway good luck. Remember, in order to be in Varsity you have to play good on both sides of the ball, and have chemistry on the team. You have to be someone that is going to be a reliable player when the older kids leave.Good Luck. practice.
