How do i stop prank callers?

I recently have been getting calls from a girl i dont know who i suspect is from my school. She comes up on my caller ID as "Unknown" or "Witheld", so i dont know the number. She has called me late at night before, and if i dont pick up she leaves weird messages. Nothing threatening, just weird. Two examples are one was about dust mites in her carpet that Obama was helping her get rid of, and another was telling me to wear plaid to the auditorium at 3:30 on Wednesday. How do i get her to stop and leave me alone?

You could get this thing where whenever someone calls they have to say their name or service provider.  So if you don't know them just don't answer your phone.  Or you could get Caller ID

pick up and tell her its the wrong number with a very thick non-American accent. Use poor English.

If that doesn't work, do what I do before the "do not call registry" started: be as rude as possible and make her hang up. Its funny. But I was very young back then.

Lastly, use the power of the law to stop prank callers, saying its harassment or something. Make it sound very official and that you're recording the conversation to press criminal charges if it doesn't stop. I never got this far, being really rude usually works.

Don't answer calls for numbers that are "Unknown" or "Withheld."  If she leaves a message, delete it without listening to the whole thing.  Think of it as spam for your voice mail:  It's annoying, but easily gotten rid of.

You could also check with your phone company and see if they offer a service for blocking calls from "Unknown" and "Withheld" sources.

When you use *69, you dial it and then you call the actual number. It blocks out your actual name and number; it shows up on their caller ID as private. You can report her to a non-emergency number and she can get in trouble if you are sick of this.

Stooping down to her level is childish and she needs to be taught a lesson!

In the past I had a bit of a problem with this, I just laid the phone down and walked away.  Could you put her on the spot at school?  Open ridicule may take the fun out of it for her.  As for 69, sexual, takes two.
