the alarms are about 3 months old, the place is over 30 years old, gross and dusty, its not my apt but the one i'm painting. it started beeping almost a month ago before i started the interior painting. what's going on? the apartments next door and below doesn't have this chirping problem but they have sounded off at an ungodly time on a few occassions but not anymore. just the ones upstairs keep chirping, is there something i can do to help the landlord? ..and that apartment has been vacant for almost two weeks, btw.

  1. The batteries need replaced! A friend of mine had that problem when he moved into a new house that had been empty for awhile. He replaced the batteries and it fixed the problem!

oops sorry i didn't read the additional info. sorry can't help you further.

  2. replace the units that are chirping.  they recommend that the units be replaced every ( 5 ? years) anyhow.

  3. change the batteries
