How do i store hazardous household cleaners?

  1. Well first of all segregate the chemicals that can cause a reaction( ammonia/bleach,Drano crystals/bleach,etc) and try and use cirtus based cleaners as much as possible.


  2. dispose of them immediately! buy non-hazardous ORGANIC alternatives. especially if you have children in your home. make sure that whatever you have in your home will not harm or kill a child if swallowed. there is no FOOL PROOF way to store poisons in a home.

  3. Storing household cleaners is not an environmental problem.  Disposing of them is the problem.

    For safety's sake, keep all household cleaners locked securely away from children and pets.

    If you have to dispose of any hazardous chemicals, call your State Board of Health for guidelines.  In Indianapolis, we have a "Tox Drop," where you can drop off anything hazardous at a site where they dispose of it properly.  That keeps a lot of yucky stuff out of the local rivers and streams.
