Hi i bought a taper yesterday, it is 2mm and i have had my ears pieced normally for 5 years.(This is my first time stretching my ear) My friend has recently put one in and she said she did it her self. I have tried to do it her way, by putting it in with shower gel in the shower and it only goes in 1/4 of the way(so yes it has stretched a bit) I had to take it out because it falls out so i have put in a normal earring that has a weight on it, to keep it stretched.

What should i do now?

  1. Okay first of do not put shower gel on your taper. It is however good if you take a shower before you stretch to circulate the blood flow in your ears. Next go out and buy yourself some jojoba oil or vitamin e oil. Lube up your taper with a little bit of oil then put it in your ear. Once you get before the jump take a deep breathe and push it in. Imediatly after put in your jewlery and do not use the taper for jewlery because it is very bad for your ears. Don't use weights for your ears make sure you get the right sized jewlery. Make sure not to skip a size when stretching and wait a month after every stretch to ensure that you don't get a blowout.

  2. Don't force it firstly, and be careful using shower gel as it could cause irritations.  Try using vaseline, and patience is the key.  Bars that are used for piercing can be bought in all sizes, you may find this easier than using a taper straight away.
