  1. If you are getting a water turtle, there are a few basic supplies you will need.

    1. A tank (size depending on the size of your turtle) This tank will have to have at least 2 inches of water or so, and a place for your turtle to get out of the water and bask (like a rock or platform, VERY IMPORTANT!)

    2. Food. Pet stores supply it, and it won't be hard to find.

    3. A water heater and heat lamp. Make sure to moniter your turtle's water temperature, because if it is too cold, the turtle could die, but too warm could cause disease.

    4. A filter. Keeping the water clean is important so that your turtle doesn't develop health issues.

If you provide clean water, a good temperature, and artificial light with a basking area for your turtle, she should be fine. Her shell should be healthy and strong.

However, if you see anything growing on the shell, or discoloration, take her to a vet!

I would recommend purchasing a book on caring for a pond turtle, and/or checking out websites with information.

  2. If its a baby you should provide it with a reasonable home. If it is about 3 inches across it should have a 20 gallon tank. With about 4 inches of water with a filter (make sure its small and has a net over it) A 30 watt light on the rock and keep the water to a 65 degree temperature. Change the water every two weeks even with a filter. Feed it a diet of protein like mini shrimps and buy the other food at your local pet shop. Make sure its for your breed of turtle. To buy a turtle go to this website----http://www.turtlesale.com/home/index.php...

  3. Depending on how big it is. A 55 galon fishtank with land and water in it are good. As long is it can swim, and rest on land. They have food for turtles at the food store, or you can even fee it worms from the yard. They are an easy pet to take care of.

  4. i think red eared sliders are kinda of cheap, but i don't know where to get one, i got mine shipped.

    to take care of it...

you'll need a basking lamp and a basking area, so that it can bask of course.

filter, to keep the water clean, or you can change the water by hand nearly everyday. (if you don't the tank gets smelly) but even  with a filter, you'll need to change the water once a month.

if it's a young turtle, some calcium blocks, to keep it's shell from softening.

sand, or large rocks to put on the bottom of the tank, so that it doesn't look as "empty"

heater, to keep the water warm during winter.

food of course. you can feed it regular food as a daily meal. and as treats lettuce, watermelon, worms, bugs, wet dog food, etc. or you can buy turtle treats from the pet store.

a big enough tank, if you're going to buy red eared sliders, then you'll need a big tank, because they grow to huge sizes. you can start with a small tank, but you're going to have to buy a lot more tanks after that. so, if you want to save tons of money, buy a huge tank, 50-80 gallons and that will last a lifetime, until your turtle gets to adult size.

note: many people get red eared sliders, but a lot of them don't like them after a while, and so they set them free in a nearby pond. (not just red eared sliders, any type of turtle) so if you're going to get a turtle, make sure you're sure that you want one. before you get it.

    hope this helped ;)

  5. well it kinda depends on the type of turtle.. but always a lot of water available.. and a light that kinda heats to water.

you can buy food for it to... like i fed my painted turtle dried shimp, turtle food pellets.. and other stuff i bought at the pet store.
