How do i take the rev limiter (governor) off of my 92 yam. fzr 600?

the gas gets cut off at like 8000 rpm's in every gear, i know it's the governor, so how do i take it off? or deactivate it?

  1. its part of the ECU, you can't remove it unless you remove the whole ECU box, and i you do that the bike won't run


  2. It' may be restricted to 33bhp if you live in the uk too.

  3. you can have it changed by a motorcyle shop. but they will tell you that their not liable.

  4. Did that year and model even have a "TRE"? TIMING RETARDATION ELIMINATOR.

       IF SO ITS A SIMPLE FIX. CUT IT. GOTO STORE, BUY THE TRE WIRE HARNESS AND CALL IT A DAY.

       Your description doesnt sound like its got anything to do with any governor. youve got motor issues. unless that bike winds out at 7500 rpm, and i do not recall that being a factor back in the day, i could be wrong there, doubt it tho.

        The problem with these bikes is that they are tempermental, if you treat it like ****, it will sooner or later return the favor. I cant tell you what the problem is, hopefully someone else can, all i know is its not a governor issue.
