I have two. One is white and the other one is yellow and green.

both of them were born this year. Whenever i put my hand in the cage they go wild and run around like crazy. if corner one of them (mainly the yellow one) it starts to bite me.

  1. budgies do "go wild" if they arent handled regulary check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame... for a good article on how to handtame your bird,   goodluck!

  2. males above the nose(where nostrils are) is blue and kinda purpley and the females is tanish

  3. Males have a blue nose, females have a pale/pink nose.

  4. look up an old answer.i posted a HUGE reply yesterday

  5. To tell the gender of your budgie just look at the cere (the nose or top of the beak where the nostril is) in male budgies this is blue and in females it is between pink and brown.  If your budgies are too young you may not be able to tell.

To train them just be very patient.  Start by sitting by the cage and talking to them and then slowly and quietly put your hand in their cage.  Don't try to grab them or make them come to you right away.  Just get them used to the idea that your hand in the cage is safe.  Depending on how fast your budgies adjust to this you may then try to get them to "step up" on your finger.

If this does not happen you can always take their food away for a couple of hours a day and then come to them with food in your hand.... check out this video clip for pointers...

  6. To tame them, spend one-on-one time with them once a day for a while. To tell if they are males or females, wait until they are about 1 year old or so and then look at their ceres (The bit where their nostrils are). If it is dark blue then the budgie is a boy. If it is purple or anything close to that it is a girl. When you can tell and they are boy and girl, don't put a nestbox in the cage unless you want babies!

  7. it takes time.just talk to it whistle to it and mabe feed it some treats once and a while it may take a while.parakeets are beautiful playful birds.and if you think there bits hurts try getting bit by a conure or an african grey lol..
