1. **** taming it

you should eat that ***** wit some limon y sal yummmm!! :)

  2. I'm not going to lie to you. He probably won't ever get any tamer. Iguanas are known to be aggressive, if not handling when very young. It will only get worse as he gets bigger. You might want to think about rehoming it, because when fully grown, it can really injure or kill you.

  3. There is almost no way to tame one if you haven't had it since it was a baby. The time it spent before was really the time it learned what to trust and what not to trust. All I can tell you is to be very cautious and keep handling him. You never know, he might end up understanding you aren't there to hurt him. You may find it gets worse before it gets better. Iguanas are wild animals that we forced into domestication. It would be hard to break its instincts.

  4. Taming an iguana is a VERY difficult task, not difficult because the things are hard to do, because they're not, it's because you have to do them OVER and OVER.

I have an iguana, (he's near me right now), and he's 2 1/2 years old, and totally tame.

Your iguana is still getting used to its environment. Make sure its territory is large enough. (3'l x 2'w x 2'h). That's the least of your worries, but it is a factor for now. Your iguana has to learn to trust you. Letting this problem go any further would be catastrophic. Hand-feeding is one of the BEST ways to tame an iguana. I'll basically list some of the best ways:

    1. Let your iguana observe you, and talk to it while you go about your day. This may sound odd, but your iguana has to realize that you are no threat.

    2. Sit down, and talk to it, just doing that and that only. Use his name, they will recognize their names.

    3. New Ig's need 2-3 weeks of quiet time to adjust to their surroundings

    4. Put your hand in its habitat, but DO NOT go to pet him from above, rather, approach him from the side. If he acts aggressive, back off for a while, but dont make any sudden movements or take your hand from outside his cage. Speak in a soft voice while doing this. Don't give up, otherwise YOU'RE the pet.

    5. Using that technique, over time, work your way to petting your ig.

    6. Picking up a 14 inch iguana ~ you will use one hand and scoop it up from in front using your hand. Make sure it feels secure. Let it wear itself out if it freaks out too much. Let it know that being calm gets it what it wants.

    7. After normal handling, respect your iguana's wishes if he seems particularly stressed.

    Ways to avoid stress:

-Try to keep your iguanas cage somewhere free of loud noises, or sudden movements.

-Dont change the layout of his habitat too often

-Keep 2-3 of the sides of the cage covered, but not the ones he can observe you through.

    More Tips:

Hand feeding can be a bit of a pain. Once your iguana gets used to it, it more or less gets addicted. Some iguana will only eat from their owners hand.

For your situation, I would say put his food on top of your palm, and ease it into his cage. Let him walk up and eat off of it. That's probably as close to hand feeding as you'll get.

Well, If you need ANY more help, feel free to E-mail me. I gotta go cuz my igs tellin me he wants attention

    :P

    good luck =]

  5. Food is the answer.

There is a video on You tube called "Tame" and it's about how to tame it. I love it, for me, I have a Savannah Monitor which is already over a year, I rescued it recently and spent like 8 hours a day with it, holding him and just hangin' with him was key. I like the food idea. After he spends some good time with me I feed him when i get him back into his tank.

First fill his belly while in the tank, then handle him, and offer food after he has spent a little good time with you. tale whips no, but immediately after if he lets you pet behind his ear yes.

I know it will take a while, and some are just full of testosterone and vinegar.

  6. I know you don't want to hear it, but you just have to keep handling him. That's the only way.

  7. Iguanas can be a pain, but you can calm them. being from south Florida, I have handled plenty of them. Be gentle, use slow but determined movements, and be consistent! Yours is still young enough that you will have no problem. First thing is to make him happy, make sure the habitat is set up perfect, proper temp and lighting... food, ect. Then gain his trust. When he gapes at you, put something that taste good in his mouth, like a piece of banana... he will start to look forward to you. Just be patient!

  8. maybe you should have held it when it was a baby. 14 inch iguana. suggest you give this one to a local zoo and try again. (hope not).
