My cat we think is still a kitten but the vet told us like a year because shes old enough to get fixed and was pregnant until she had a miscarriage. The problem with her is that every time you go to pet her she starts playing but she scratches your hand the whole time. Also when your sleeping like every 5 minutes she grabs your feet and scratches them real bad(no exaderation) I haven't gotten a good nights sleep in weeks. We dont know how to get her to stop. I know its hard to train a cat but we would like to be able to pet her or even be in the same room with her without being scratched. Any answers???

  1. ROLL UP A NEWSPAPER AND SMACK HER JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE A SOUND . IT WANT HURT.

  2. break the god d**n neck

  3. pinch his feet when he scratches you not real hard but hard enough to make him notice.

  4. SCRATCH HIM BACK

  5. Not sure how to stop her scratching when you play, but the best way to stop her scratching while in bed is to keep a spray bottle with water in it beside you and every time she scratches you, just give her a quick spray. She'll hate it and soon get the message. You might have to put up with damp sheets while you're training her though!!!

  6. You need to find out what type of petting is going to make her "melt" -- cats are very "sensous" and you may be petting her in a way that makes her want to play-fight.

Also, get her some toys with catnip so she can get excited and burn energy with those.    Hold off on giving her those until the nighttime.

Better yet, try to wake her up a lot in the early-late evenings, so that maybe she will be sleepy around the time you sleep.

  7. My cat used to be like that.  He was a wild cat that my dad took home from his work.  Hes now 13 years old but it took alot of training to get him to stop scratching.

What I used to do is pick the cat up and put him on my shoulder.  This way he couldn't scratch my face or hands.  And I would hold him there until he calmed down and now, he will lie on my shoulder and purr.

If you stroke a cat on his back, just above his tail, this can make cats get playful.  He will be more likely to scratch if you rub him in places he doesn't like.  Try stroking him in the back of the neck.  And if you let him smell your finger before you touch him - this will build up trust between you and the cat.

Don't feed the cat too often and he will learn he has to be nice in order to get fed.

Don't let him in your bedroom at night.  Either put the cat out or lock him in a room with a bed and water.

Unfortunately this is not something that will happen quickly.  You have to be patient.

  8. You can't teach a stupid cat anything.  have him declawed.

  9. Buy a kitty nail cutter and trim her nails.  She will like the attention.

  10. You can put her in a different room at night so she doesn't wake you up. Like other people have said spray her whenever she scratches you. You could also try not paying her any attention when she decides to scratch. She will learn she gets no attention when she scratches and behaves badly and will get attention when she behaves nicely. Do not get her declawed because she needs claws to defend herself if she manages to get outside at any point or if she is partly outdoor. They also need their claws to hunt mice and other prey. People do make these special boots for cats to prevent them from scratching, you could look for these online or at a local pet store.

  11. I would say get her declawed but thats considered inhumane so get her a scratching board

  12. take it to the groomer and get its nails clipped off

  13. thow it across the room everytime it does it.. thats what i do to my dog

  14. he is scared. be calm around her and don't make any sudden jerks. jerks scare the cats and will make them scratch you

  15. whenever it does, spray water in it's face lol

  16. Ok if he is scratching you you need to give him a little squirt with a water bottle. if that doesnt work then you should try giving the cat a little smack on the back or the butt.and if none of those ideas work maybe you should get that new pedicure for your pets and that should trim down the claws and you wouldnt get injured.
