  1. You have to TALK TALK TALK to the Parakeet all the TIME

Ps Some Parkeets DO NOT LEARN TO TALK and Some will

  2. Only some learn to talk! Firs though, your parakeet needs to trust and love you, and when it does, it might be able to pick up on some things that you repeat around it.

  3. it will take time n lots of paitents...works better fo younger keets tho

  4. Parakeets are terrible talkers.  If you want a bird that can learn to speak, you should get an African Grey or a Cockatoo, or another large parrot.  There have been some instances where parakeets learn a few words or phrases, but the most my parakeet ever learned was  just to imitate the birds he heard outside.

If you want to try your best, you have to sit next to him and repeat the word you want him to learn constantly with a break in between, at the same tone and voice you want him to learn it.  Sit in front of him so he can see you shape your lips and tongue.  Start easy, with a one or two syllable word.

    Best of luck,

    Phoenix.

  5. First, choose a phrase you want him to say.  Parakeets usually learn stuff with the long "i" sound, like hi and sky.  I got my parakeet to say "hi Skye" by saying it to him every time i walked towards him.  He picked it up pretty quick.

Second, say it with emotion.  Your bird usually likes anything you say with emotion and that's why so many birds learn to swear!

Third, don't give up.  It takes time for your bird to speak his first word.  If you hear him making some gibberish, he could be trying to say your word.  Just keep repeating it over and over.

If your bird doesn't learn to talk, you may have to accept the fact that it never will.
