  3. Well, the old ones will tend to want to sleep more and get more to eat. And the children will tend to be more perky.

    i hope this helps!

  4. dont know how you tell there age. but males are grey with fawn chest . female are fawn or white.  both  have lovely red beaks

  5. I worked in an indoor garden that had at onetime hundreds of Zebra Finchs... I have found you can only realy tell Fledglings are a given "teen" or adolesent have the adalt colour but lighter and these birds are very active. Adults full colour. Older Adalts still full colour and not as active seinors will sometimes lighten in colour (But not all the time) and will be the ones you see calmly gumping from branch to branch with carefree due just eating what they please. Often aloof from the other birds.

  6. ask it nicely

  7. i dont know but i have zebra finches and im with you on this question

  8. I am a bird breeder and I know the only way to tell how old a finch is if you did not have contact with a private breeder allowing you to witness the baby of your choosing before purchase..most breeders I know will show baby birds to buyers and allow them to choose a particular baby before it is an adult(yes even finches!!!) is if it has a band that specifically has the year on it somewhere....It is usually initial of breeder horizontal on the band than the year vertical 2 digits, than an id #.

  9. The best way to tell a young bird from an older bird likewise a breeding and none breeding bird is by the colour of it's beak,a breeding bird's beak is Red and a none breeder is Orange

I found this out when I first began to keep birds and that was over 50,yrs,ago and it has never failed,in a really old bird the beaks tend to look Flakey.

    Hope this helps.

  10. I'm not really sure how to do that.  I did search on the internet for you, but didn't find anything.  The only other thing I can suggest is talk to a breeder.

  11. Duh, just ask them.

  12. you cant really tell but if u com pare these 2 pix it mite help u estimate..hope this helps.... http://www.finchforum.com/gallery/albums...

  13. You really can't tell accurately the age unless they're obviously very young and still getting their adult colors. After that, they don't start to get grey or show any other signs of getting old really. Sometimes an older bird might look a little less perky than a younger bird, but really unless you've owned the bird and have an idea, or the bird is banded, you can't tell for sure once they have their adult colors.

  14. well you can know that they are babies because they are featherless. younger ones have black beaks and are grey because they are about to grow. adults are fawn or fully patterened
