How do i tell if a coin is circulated or uncirculated?

i have a 1907 $20 coin in ok condition and im trying to find out how much money its worth

i use a coin book, (updated book)this is the way they are the book, you have to know the shape of your coin,  good,  vg, fine, vf, xf, au, ms60.  so get yourself an updated book on coins, and go from there, be careful who you take that coin too, you do it sounds like have a nice peice there.  i learned on my own, you can too!  good luck!

"Okay" condition is not uncirculated.  In numismatic terms it would probably be called VF (very fine).  Most dealers pay about a bit less than the value of an ounce of gold for that coin on any given day, currently $926.
