  1. Sit on the bike and ride slowly. On the down stroke at six o'clock your knee should be only slightly bent. You can rise or lower the saddle to adjust this. Too high and you can damage your hips. Too low can damage your knees.

  2. my 9 yr old daughter rides a 24" kids' MTB. my 5'1" sister rides a small framed 26" wheeled MTB. my 5'6" wife rides a medium..

  3. The 24" is referring to the wheel size and has nothing to do with the fit.  What you want to look at is the frame size.  Check out the link below and it will help you with the size bike you need and tell you how to measure yours.

  4. It sounds like you believe your bike is too small.  If that's the case, do a quick read on basic bike fitting as suggested.  Then visit a bike shop and see what size frames they suggest for you.  You want to be comfortable, not cramped.

  5. At 5-4 you need an adult sized bike. They come standard with 26" or 700c wheels. You'll need a smaller frame size. My daughter (11years old) is 4-6 and a 24" MTB style bike fits her great.
