How do i tell if my motor is water cooled? and also how do i run water through the engine?

Yes it is so put it in a bucket of water there is a weep hole on the back or side of the eng that's spits out water when running>>Unless there is a flush unit that fits it>>

Yes your motor is water cooled.  You will see Gill like cuts in the lower drive that sits in the water.  As your boat moves these force water into your engine.  to run the motor you must have this part of the drive either in the water or hooked up to a motor flusher.  they sell these at any boat store and it hooks up to the hose and covers the gills.  Turn your water on first than start the motor.

the cylinder area on a liquid cooled engine is jacketed......a air cooled engine is not....only a blower shroud.....water on a liquid cooled is pumped up a tube in the propeller column...then circulated around the cylinder & then discharged back down a return tube......insert the  propeller shaft into a 55 gallon barrell of water before running on dry land......carefull....will make a splash.

You can get a set of "muffs" that attach to a garden hose and fit right over the water intake, turn on the water before starting the motor. Running the motor without water even for a few seconds is BAD and can cause damage.

If the engine is water cooled, you will have an intake hole on the side of the shaft casing down towards the propeller.  It would have to be below the surface of the water, and they are usually on the side.  I would think that most motors that small would be air cooled, but I'm not sure if that holds true for boat motors or not.
