  1. yea, totally.

or else the will freak out.

just make sure the don't go out looking for it

  2. bc im not a parent im not sure wat to do but eventually they will have to learn about death. maybe it would b easier to explain with a cat than if a person died. it all depends on their age as well. they may b to young to understand all of it.

    i hope this helps!

    good luck!

  3. How old are your kids?

can't you just tell them the truth instead of lying to them?

  4. You cannot protect your kids. They need to learn the concept of death.

Tell them that their cat passed away and won't be coming back home.

  5. Tell them the truth. They'll find out sooner or later that it died and they'll grow up lying.

~The truth shall set you free xD

  6. It depends on the age of the children and if they're a young age then its definitely going to be hard saying the truth.  The best way is to make something up such as it running away but then they might want to put up lost signs or go looking for it.

  7. tell them that you found them dead. saying that they ran away will break their heart, tell them that you'll get them another cat

  8. my parents are bad at telling me someone has died. my mom told me she was at the hospital and i was like "oh i hope she is ok", then she told me that she died. just tell your kids straight out, don't give them false hope that they are alive because it hurts worse than thinking they are still alive when they are not. this happened with my grandma too. FOR THE LOVE OF ANY HIGHER DEITY (not everyone believes in god), DON'T DO THAT!

  9. Uh how old are they? But no just say the cat has come to an end.

  10. Tell them It died, maybe get them a new one, if not to soon, but tell them the truth, be honest, tell them it was sick, and it was getting old. Tell them the honest truth.

  11. Unless they are really young, I would tell them the truth in a way that they can understand.

  12. My parents always told us that it ran away and some old lady was looking after it. This always upset me because I never got any closure and wanted to find this lady and get my cat back. It'll hurt but be straight up and tell them what happened and give him a funeral and bury him etc. They'll feel a lot better about it I think. Best of luck

  13. I read on the other question that they are 2 and 5.  Well, you have to be completely honest with them about the pet dying.  I found some webpages that u can read to help out with this situation.

    http://children.webmd.com/features/what-...

    http://www.parentmap.com/content/view/14...

    http://www.essortment.com/all/deathpetch...

    Hope these links help out!

  14. google the poem, Rainbow Bridge, read this to your children, it will help, once you read it you will understand what I mean

  15. Tell them the truth and depth of details depends on their ages. Sorry for your loss.

  16. I don't know how your kids are... but when I asked my daughter one day if she knew where here great grandpa was... and she responded "with the Tony the Turtle who ran away"... my heart was broken.

PS - Rent ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN!  Heaven is a cool place to be when it's your time and you are ready!  Make sure it's the original version.  (PS - if you get a new cat... call him Charlie)

  17. That will be hard telling them, but either way, they'll be sad. tell them the truth...

  18. tell them it died if they cry they will get over it and become stronger people.

  19. older than 6yrs old. Try sitting down to watch all dog go to heaven first. Then that might help them to understand and cope with the death. Just explain the parts that aren't real first before telling them about their pets death. be prepared for tears and questions.

  20. That would really depend on the ages of the kids. If they are old enough to know even a little about death and understand it, then it wouldn't be a bad thing to tell them the truth- kids have to learn about death to have a real since of reality - However if they are not of age to accept death as a grief process then - yeah a story of the cat running off is the best option.

Death of an animal to a child is going to hurt and that is how coping with grief is taught and they need to learn about how  to cope with the things that are the hardest to accept, in order to carry on a positive attitude towards adapting in a forever changing world. Protecting to much can be more harmful if they can't get past things that life dishes out at them. Depression is a more difficult process than grieving - these life lessons teaches how to over come but remember enough to chose to overcome the hurt to move on.
