How do i text on a blackberry?

I have an old (well not really old) blackberry, and it isnt a pearl.. I go through everything on it and i stiill cant find a way to text.. any suggestions?

  1. Go to your Messages application on your Homescreen.

    From there, hit the BB Key (Left of the Trackball), and go to "Compose SMS." You can select a contact of who to text, or hit "Use Once" to enter a number.

    Then hit the trackball, and type away.
